Grass-mud horses????? WTF

There have been a series of interesting articles that I've read lately surrounding the Chinese "grass-mud horse". Actually, the articles are about free speech, something that plays a large role in my life being a musician and songwriter. In China, the mythical grass-mud horse has come to symbolize a human right Chinese citizens seldom see in their Communist controlled country.

China has dished out a hell of a lot of dollars on censoring the internet, an issue we Americans probably know little about. The name Grass-mud horse in Chinese is phonetically equivalent to “Fxxk Your Mother!” Ouch. The creature is said to live in the "Ma Le Desert" which in Chinese is phonetically the same as "mother's c*nt." Songs, merchandise, and videos have been sold and shown by the thousands in China and Chinese officials are having a hard time censoring the online media because the words aren't actually "bad" words. They just sound like them. It's the equivalent of the words "bare" and "bear" one article stated. The words sound phonetically the same, yet have totally different meanings. This grass-mud horse has quickly grown into a symbol of free speech and anti-censorship in China.

Global Voices Online wrote "The song continues to raise more and more attention in the past two months and public intellectuals joined in the discussion. Beifeng summarized the Grass Mud Horse issue in his weekly online digest:

"Recently there is a popular online term called “Grass Mud Horse”, it pops up all at a sudden and crosses the red light. Even intellectual like Cui Weiping has written article on “Grass Mud Horse”, and now we have “Grass Mud Horse” toy on the internet. It is difficult to trace what is the origin of “Grass Mud Horse”, all we know is that around early Jan 2009, a post titled as “10 legendary creatures in Baidu” has caught our attention, together with two spoofing video “Grass Mud Horse at Ma Le Desert” and “Song of Grass Mud Horse”. It is said that the appearance of the term is related with the “anti-Smut” campaign. The article said that “Grass Mud Horse” is a creature living in “Ma Le Desert” (translator note: phonetically equivalent to “mother's cxxt”), the creature launches a battle with “river crab” (translator note: harmony / meaning censorship policy) in order to keep their stock grass (translator note: also phonetically equivalent to “fxxk”). Netizen 1.5 pointed out that “Grass Mud Horse” emerged as a “ridiculous” popular term, is actually a collective conscious of netizens for sending out the signal: the ruling elites has fallen into the trap of Tacitus in the eye of netizens. The ruling elites have the power to see without seeing, but for the netizens, they believe that “river crabs will disappear from the Ma La Desert”.

It seems like everybody has a blog now-a-days. To the left is channelnewsasia.com's blog pic. Whatever.

What's the reason for blogging? i was thinkin about this extra intense yesterday and then i thought..."Ah ha! It's because of lack of communication." "Really," you might ask. "How?!" What I mean is this: people have become closed in. First off, the iPod has put an end to casual conversation, as a result, people dont listen to one another anymore. There is no venting process. People keep things bottled up and human to human interaction is on the verge of extinction thanks to the pc. That might be a slight exaggeration but on to the solution. Blogging!

Since we can't get people to listen in the physical then we express ourselves on the very machine that killed "small talk". Ironic isn't it. I saw a couple at the Red Lobster in Midtown Manhattan recently and the guy was playing his PSP and his girl was tinkering with her phone at the table the whole time! WTF. For a whole hour they sat there doing this, and i was pleasantly entertained at the sight. hehe. What would be crazy is if they were actually texting each other.

So as a result, now people that would love nothin more than to shake ya hand and ask about ya kids are forced into the tiny blog box on this dingy screen to satisfy their lust for language and borderline logorrhea lol. In today's crazy and deranged society there are alot of people trying to scam. I've been on my toes constantly for the last several months. The biggest and most recent scam I found out about is CASH 4 GOLD!

It seemed too good to be true and when something seems too good it usually isn't. I was already turned off by CASH 4 GOLD because the price of gold has risen very steady throughout the current economic crisis. We the people would be better off holding on to our precious metals because they are the one thing that doesn't lose value. In exchange for your valuables that increase daily, CASH 4 GOLD gives you paper "greenback" dollars that decrease in value almost daily due to inflation. That exchange doesn't make sense.

I understand people are desperate in these harsh times but even after all of that I found out CASH 4 GOLD is ripping off unsuspecting individuals even more! The reason is because after you send in your gold or other valuables they deliver you a check for around $5 if you're lucky. People have sent in valuables worth over an estimated $500 and recieved checks from CASH 4 GOLD for a mere $15! Some people even stated they got checks for .25 cents! What Are You Worth...Part 2

On a side note, the average human being is estimated at a monetary value of a little over 1.5 billion dollars. One average human being has enough energy to power a large city for around 3 or 4 days. (and u thought oil was precious) Although my stats may be a little off the basic idea is fact. Now with this being understood do u think 15 an hour can really add up? Not for me. The hard part is figuring this out: "What could you possibly do to reach your true value?" You make 15 an hour at your job but you most likely help make them thousands of dollars a day. I know a guy that used to work at a sneaker store and he said he makes a $100 bonus for every $2000 he makes for the company. He was excited. I think he's f8@kin crazy.

I'd much rather exert all that time and energy into making myself $2000 and paying someone else the $100 allowance. Companies act like they're your friend but the reality is they are saying, "here's a benjamin for bustin your ass for me, thanks for the 2g's. Oh, and remember if you're anything less than a full functioning machine for 1 day out the years you've worked with me I will FIRE you!" Jobs dont recognize your humanity because they can't function properly if they did. i dont kno about you but i decided a long time ago only i have my best interest at heart; so its better that i control my life rather than some corporate conglomerate. If you like your job and your life as it is than by all means keep living. If you don't, i'm here to tell you, "Take a risk. think about getting paid what you're worth for once in your life." But how you'll do that is up to you.

Money can't buy you happiness but it does buy everything else. Whoever says money isn't a big deal will be cursed wit the unhappiness of being broke until they change. I promise you. This world is designed to make or break. In order to make you must break others and vice versa. Bottom line, there is no inbetween and no way around it. Materialism is not what I'm referring too. I'm talking about being confortable in life. That means havin ya bills payed for and having enough doe to buy essentials like food, clothing, etc. Many of you say you have a job(s). At the end of the day you're breaking yourself with a job and your making someone else a hell of a lot of money. A job requires the majority of your precious day and your life only to compensate you with a small dollar wage per hour. "Small!!?" you may ask. You make 20 an hour. (continued in Part 2)
